There are thirteen (13) vowels in Hindi. All but one have their own matra. The matras are associated with the vowels which we can leran more in ‘Matras’.┬áThere are forty-six (46) letters in Hindi. Each letter represents one sound. The sounds are divided into two types, just like English: vowels & consonants. Since the consonants (alphabets) cannot make any sound of their own, they always need the vowels to help them out. This is how we will learn┬áMatras here.
